  • Personnel who have valid certification in accordance with NEK 405-3 (validity of the certification is 5 years) and who wish to expand their market area towards transport. The course is also relevant for others who want to become better acquainted with the regulations for road traffic systems, among other things. N601 Safety requirements for electrical installations in and along public roads, and NEK600 El and EKOM in road traffic systems. N601 and NEK600 are additional requirements for what are already the requirements of FEL and NEK400.

The candidate must arrange reservations for hotel rooms themselves. ExTek is not involved in the communication between the participant and the hotel about bookings/cancellations.

NEK 405-3-2 Electrical Control Road Traffic Systems is a substandard in the NEK 405 series, with methodology and certification scheme for the road sector for third-party assessment of deliveries of electrical installations and electrical equipment to ensure that these comply with regulatory and contractual requirements.

The standard shall also form the basis for third-party assessment of fulfilment of operation and maintenance contracts and general control of assignments. The standard initially covers the road sector, but is based on a model that may be relevant for the entire transport sector and for critical infrastructure in general.

Typical clients are road owners such as the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Nye Veier, Counties and municipalities.

In December 2023, the competency requirements were increased in order to take the exam.

The exam can be conducted digitally on for example teams, after the course. This is agreed with the person you are going to certify with (DNV or NEMKO).

Duration course:
The course is held over three days. Two days as a classroom course, a week's stay, then a day as a webinar.

Basic competence (qualification and practical training requirements) to be able to take the exam:

- Certificate of apprenticeship from electrical engineering and practice that must include a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in
road construction (tunnel and road in the day).
Or;
– Certificate of apprenticeship from the electrical trade, minimum technical vocational school, and practice that must include
Minimum 1 year relevant experience in road construction (tunnel and road today).

Requirements relating to documented additional competence

Competence in road safety:
The candidate document completed work notification course 1 with passed test, not older than 5 years. (N301 Appendix 2).

  • The Tunnel Safety Regulations and the Tunnel Safety Regulations for county roads etc.;

The candidate should have knowledge of regulatory changes from old regulations to FEF/FEL NEK400, differences between FEF/FEL and NEK

The candidate should have documented additional competence:

  • Understanding of internal control systems.
  • Be able to define the scope of the task. The scope is determined by:
    Mandate
    Which objects are covered by the control
    which areas are covered by the control
    Registration level
    A preliminary inspection, in which the contracting authority and the control undertaking participate, may be necessary to determine the scope of the control.
  • Have knowledge of condition analyses
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrotechnical measurement results
  • Knowledge of the functions of measuring equipment so that measurements are reliable
  • To assess whether the equipment's specifications are satisfactory for the assignment.
  • To be able to say something about lifetime, condition, minor deviations, serious deviations, critical deviations and the need to upgrade
  • For use of condition ratings (TG0, 1, 2 and 3).

Examination:
The exam has a total duration of 4 hours and consists of:
- 2 case studies with a total of 20 questions.
- Multiple choice question with 40 questions.
All aids with the exception of assistance from another person are permitted.
